Feeding guide for your Baby Shark

Fuel growth. Build structure.

Read the dog — not the bag.

DAILY FEEDING CHART (Starting at 8 Weeks)

As a suggestion: your pup can vary

8–10 weeks: 3 meals/day | 1 ½ –2 cups per meal | 4–6 cups/day

10–12 weeks: 3 meals/day | 2½–3 cups per meal | 7–9 cups/day

3–4 months: 3 meals/day | 3 cups per meal | 8–9 cups/day

4–5 months: 2–3 meals/day | 3–4 cups per meal | 8–10 cups/day

6–9 months: 2 meals/day | 4–6 cups per meal | 9–12 cups/day

10–12 months: 2 meals/day | 4–5 cups per meal | 8–10 cups/day

IMPORTANT:

It is normal for a growing Rottweiler puppy to temporarily eat as much as

— or more than — an adult dog during peak growth phases.

SPARTAN FEEDING PHILOSOPHY

• A healthy, active Rottweiler puppy should not be calorie-restricted

• Growth happens in bursts, not straight lines

• Puppies need fuel, not fillers

• We feed for strong bone development, proper muscle growth, and stable energy

HOW TO KNOW YOU’RE FEEDING THE RIGHT AMOUNT

Ignore the bag chart. Use the puppy. ( We prefer Purina large breed puppy , Purina One  or even better -

ProPlan puppy Large breed. We like to feed puppy food until the puppy is one year old)

Good signs:

• Firm, well-formed stools… Remember when I said I was “On poop patrol”?  Now it’s your turn.

• Good energy, not frantic … playful and content

• Lean body with visible waist … healthy look

• Ribs easily felt, not sticking out … not fat/ not boney.

Adjust if needed:

• Loose stools → reduce slightly or slow increases … could be a sign of overeating

• Hard, dry stools → increase food or hydration … water in their food is great for digestion

• Constant hunger with poor stools → quality issue, not quantity

READING DOG FOOD LABELS (THIS MATTERS)

Choose a food that is:

• Labeled Large Breed Puppy                 • Meat-based protein listed first

• Properly balanced calcium and phosphorus

Avoid foods filled with:

• Corn, wheat, or soy as primary ingredients

• Generic meat meals

• Excessive fillers

If most of what goes in comes straight back out in the yard

 — you’re paying to scoop poop.

COST VS VALUE

Quality large-breed food will not be the cheapest, but it feeds the dog — not the lawn.

Cheap food leads to more waste, poorer digestion, and less usable nutrition.

MEAL SCHEDULE NOTES

• Start with 3 meals per day

• Transition to 2 meals per day around 4–5 months

• Always provide fresh water.

   • I like to always pour water over the dry food right

before they are given a bowl. It’s great for digestion.

SPARTAN BOTTOM LINE

Feed enough to support growth, read your puppy’s body and stools,

choose quality food designed for

large breeds, and don’t panic if your puppy eats like a future linebacker

— because that’s exactly what he’s becoming.
