Here’s What I Feed My Dogs:
I’m often asked about my dogs’ diets, so here’s a quick breakdown of what I use and why:
- Puppies (up to 8 weeks): I start them on Purina Puppy Chow – Tender & Crunchy for a soft, easy-to-digest texture.
- Puppies (8 weeks to 1 year): I switch them to Purina Pro Plan Large Breed Puppy to support proper growth and joint development.
- Adults: I feed Purina Pro Plan Sport Performance 30/20, which is ideal for active dogs and supports lean muscle and energy levels.
- For weight control or less active dogs: I use Purina Dog Chow Complete Adult when they need to maintain a healthy weight or are less active.
Do I Feed Anything Else? Absolutely.
In addition to kibble, my dogs get fresh, nutrient-rich supplements:
- Organ meats – I give them dehydrated or cooked beef and pork liver and hearts, all organic and raised right here on my farm. These are packed with protein, B vitamins, iron, and essential fatty acids. I'm currently looking into adding lungs to the mix once I get a freeze dryer!
- Salmon Oil – Supports healthy skin, shiny coats, joint mobility, immune function, and even cognitive health.
- B Strong Supplement – A targeted vitamin that supports reproductive health and cardiovascular wellness.
