Your First 48 Hours and Beyond
Bringing home your new Rottweiler puppy is exciting—but also a big adjustment. This guide walks you through the first 48 hours, plus tips for the first two weeks, to help your puppy settle in smoothly.
✅ Before Pickup: What to Have Ready
- Crate and playpen area
- Stainless steel bowls (for food & water)
- Chew toys (like Nylabone or Benebone)
- Puppy pads (if needed during transition)
- Blanket or towel for bonding time
- Lightweight collar and leash
- Your puppy’s food (we’ll provide details before pickup)
🏡 First Day Home: What to Expect
- Go straight home. Keep introductions minimal—no extra stops.
- Potty break first thing. Then crate or quiet time to decompress.
- Offer water and a small meal. It’s normal if appetite is light the first day.
- Expect lots of naps. Puppies sleep 16–18 hours a day.
- Limit stimulation. Avoid stores, crowds, or visitors—keep it quiet and calm.
🌙 Your First Night
- Place the crate next to your bed.
- Expect some whining—this is normal. Stay calm and don’t scold.
- Let them potty if the whining lasts more than 10–15 minutes.
- Use a warm towel or heartbeat toy for extra comfort.

10:00 AM Potty + short play/training
12:00 PM Potty + Lunch
