🐾 Puppy Transition Guide

Your First 48 Hours and Beyond
Bringing home your new Rottweiler puppy is exciting—but also a big adjustment. This guide walks you through the first 48 hours, plus tips for the first two weeks, to help your puppy settle in smoothly.

✅ Before Pickup: What to Have Ready

  • Crate and playpen area

  • Stainless steel bowls (for food & water)

  • Chew toys (like Nylabone or Benebone)

  • Puppy pads (if needed during transition)

  • Blanket or towel for bonding time

  • Lightweight collar and leash

  • Your puppy’s food (we’ll provide details before pickup)

🏡 First Day Home: What to Expect

  1. Go straight home. Keep introductions minimal—no extra stops.

  2. Potty break first thing. Then crate or quiet time to decompress.

  3. Offer water and a small meal. It’s normal if appetite is light the first day.

  4. Expect lots of naps. Puppies sleep 16–18 hours a day.

  5. Limit stimulation. Avoid stores, crowds, or visitors—keep it quiet and calm.

🌙 Your First Night

  • Place the crate next to your bed.

  • Expect some whining—this is normal. Stay calm and don’t scold.

  • Let them potty if the whining lasts more than 10–15 minutes.

  • Use a warm towel or heartbeat toy for extra comfort.
